Description

How It All Started

The field of surgical pathology lacked concise, “quick start” guides in subspecialty topics. Inspired by Dr. Diana Weedman Molavi’s book, “The Practice of Surgical Pathology: A Beginner’s Guide to the Diagnostic Process” published in 2008 and in its second edition (2018), we recognized the need for accessible subspecialty resources that could be easily consumed, offering a comprehensive overview during a weekend read or a long plane ride. Thus, the Survival Guides were conceived, starting with gastrointestinal pathology. Our objective was clear--to provide affordable, focused books that enable trainees to grasp key points or allow seasoned pathologists to refresh skills in specific areas. The debut of the first Survival Guide to Gastrointestinal Mucosal Biopsies in late 2017 marked the beginning of our endeavor.

Second Edition of the Survival Guide to Gastrointestinal Biopsies

This edition is a testament to our commitment to staying current and relevant. It features updated content, refreshed images, and an expanded scope. Notably, the approach to neuroendocrine neoplasms has been refined, and new entities have been incorporated. Collaborating with a dermatopathology expert has further enriched the sections on anal pathology.

As our books gained recognition globally, we observed a worldwide colleague appreciation for their usefulness and practicality, especially in Latin America. In response, we decided to globalize our efforts. The second edition welcomes contributions from international authors and editors and the introduction of a tandem version in Spanish. The content remains consistent across both versions, reflecting a truly international collaboration.
