The book summarizes current knowledge in the field of Molecular Allergology and describes how the use of single allergenic molecules has initiated a new area of high-resolution allergy diagnostics. Approx. 200 allergens have already been introduced into routine serological in vitro allergy diagnostics resulting in an advanced diagnostic precision that leads to better patient management through: A) better discrimination between relevant allergies and broad cross reactivities, B) improved identification of allergies with high risk of severe allergic reactions, and C) facilitated identification of patients more likely to benefit from specific immunotherapy.
